Big Girls' Weekend

My parents took Bridget for the weekend, so we had a "Big Girls" weekend at our house this weekend. I am not sure how "big girl" it was but we sure did use that phrase a lot whenever anyone started to cry or whine, or act baby-like in general. We went out to dinner at Aronimink on Friday night. I like going there because the girls can run around a little a no one says anything (at least to us, I am sure they say it behind our back). At one point the lights all dimmed very low. I thought "Hmm, trying to set a romantic atmosphere" but then I quickly realized it was Maggie standing over in the corner on the chair who had indeed set the atmosphere. A few minutes later the sound system was jacked up... Maggie again. Yes, they were definitely talking about us behind our backs.

On Saturday we went to Oasis Play Center. It has a huge soft gym with slides and ropes, and all kinds of fun things. It is like a McDonald's playland on crack (and clean!). The girls loved it. They were pretty independent too. Sean and I both said we should have brought our reading material! At one point I did climb to the top of the apparatus to the entrance of a pretty big, enclosed, spiral slide. I said "Maura, I don't know about this. Mommy is a little scared." She replied "Don't be scared Mommy. Stay close to me and you'll be sound and safe." too cute. She then proceeded to wait for me at every turn to make sure I was okay. I'll admit, it was a little scary.

Maggie was on fire there. She was on her own most of the time and non-stop. Maura got a little tired and preferred someone with her. Not Maggie, she would get to the top while you were still climbing up, and she was gone... no time to wait for you. We followed that outing with a trip to the Nifty Fifties Diner. It was fun, but the torrential downpour kind of put a damper on the day.

When we got B back today she seemed so big. She was laughing and smiling the whole night. She really is a sweetheart. My parents said she was great. It took her a while to warm up to them, but was great after that. B has started to have a little separation anxiety lately. She definitely is constantly checking to make sure I am near her, especially if a stranger is looking at her. She used to smile at anyone, not so much anymore. You have to make sure B gets Mommy's approval first. On another note, B is eating great now, and she absolutely loves to eat. She gets so excited when you sit her down for dinner.... My kind of girl!

That place sounds awesome. We went to the McD's playplace on Sunday morning. It totally skeeves me out. But after being cooped up inside it was good for the girls to run around.

Can't wait to see you guys this weekend!
